Christmas and the Rain!

The night before christmas it rained all night. I love the sound of rain at night while I am sleeping! It´s the same soothing feeling as being rocked in a rocking chair as a baby ! So the 24th we awoke to water everywhere and it still raining. What a lazy day it was. Our men of the household went to work, while the woman of the house hung out at the house,Waiting to here from my family. We had cooked tamales the day before, so it was a pretty easy day, as far as food goes. Later that night we went to Javiers uncles house. We are good friends with them. They got the fire crackers out and acted like they were 10 again! Elijah was amazed. The fire crackers continued all night! Elijah slept with us, it was quit loud. The next day I carried my phone around all day, waiting to hear from my family again! It felt more like christmas, we awoke and all went to a soccer game jav, erlin and his dad were playing in. Then we went visiting. We visited a house with a chritmas tree, it made my heart sing. Most don´t believe in christmas, so there are no lights or trees decorated .Today was the first day since christmas that is has not rained. Scrub clothes, hang to dry, leave the house ,come home clothes soaked again from the rain! NOT FUN! It´s like you have to wash them again cause they sit for so long. My mind thinks in spanish, i dream in spanish. First thing that comes out of my mouth is spanish! I have to repeat things in english to elijah.

Elijah is growing to be a stinky!! lots of energy! he wants everything we eat too!

love to all my family!

It takes a village!

The saying it takes a village to raise your children is very true here. Everything we do is by hand, freshly grown, freshly picked, and freshly cooked! Our laundry is washed by hand and hung to dry. Between crying baby, stinky baby, hungry baby, just want to be held baby. It truly takes a village. Thats one thing about the spanish culture I am understanding more is why they are so family oriented. Most kids don´t there own bed to sleep in so the children sleep in there parents bed. Elijah has been in ours. Our box with his bed comes hopefully today. And also everyone has to take care of the baby to survive. Much love to my family. I need to go makes tortillas for lunch! adios

Word of the day: gallo= rooster

The double ll makes a y sound

My Day

Today we awoke to our rooster! Yes we have a rooster who is very loud through out the night. We can´t wait to eat him, not just for the taste! We have 10 chicks and 6 other hens! They all run around freely. Two went outside the gate today, yes I had to chase after them. I washed our laundry today on our ¨pila¨. It was fun to me actually! Family and friends came to visit. oh, stinky woke up , will post more later.

We are here!

We are here safe and sound. Our travels were easy, thank goodness! Saying goodbye to my family was very hard. (love ya´ll) like I kept saying we just need to rip the band aid off, instead of slowly pealing. It has been ripped and it does not feel very good. I miss everyone greatly! On the flip side, it has been a great joy seeing Javier see his family after 8 years. Many tears, smiles, hugs, laughter and un-belief. Most have asked when I will be leaving for the USA, when they hear my response , they don´t believe me. Yes I am staying with my husband! Javier has a cousin, she stands about 2 feet away from me or closer and just stares for a VERY long time . It seems to be the thing to do! Elijah is very happy, he loves everyone! I have so much to say , but it is late! will catch up soon! much love to my family and friends! I am safe!

Packing

Packing,packing, packing!

I have never really had to pack a house before. It's not as easy as I thought. Between crying baby, hungry baby, stinky baby . . . the list goes on. Our house is starting to look empty. Our walls are waiting to be painted by the next owners, waiting for different pictures to be hung, waiting to hear new voices and sounds. If walls could tell stories.

It's happening. This is really happening.

In 16 days our little family will be getting on a plane to start a new journey in life.
We are excited ! We are anxious ! we are hopeful!

It's been a while!

Wow, has it really been more then 2 years since I have been on my blog? YES it has!
In these 2 1/2 years my catracho and I have been blessed with a baby boy. Elijah Xavier Garcia. He is 4 months old and the sweetest little guy. I absolutely love being a mother.

I am getting back into blogging mostly because, I would like to keep my family and friends involved in our life. The time has come for my catracho to take us over to honduras for a while. We leave December 18th, 2011. We will be living with his family. Elijah and I will be traveling back and forth. I am excited, scared, nervous, anxious and all the above! I am mostly excited for my catracho. He gets to re-unite with his loved ones. I love to see him so excited. He has sacrificed many years for me, now it's my turn. No, I do not want to leave my family, but this has to happen. We have strived for this completion in our life and family for so long. It's so close, I can taste it, I can taste the freedom, I can taste the peace. Endurance is what we need, it's what we need to finish this hard race. Come follow our journey !
